“I see the vessel form as universal and timeless, a symbol for the self and one's journey through life. My vessels are created out of a variety of materials including clay, wire, gut, cloth, wood, glass and upcycled materials. I am intentional with my materials and processes and choose them for their materiality, possibilities and associations. We are all vessels; my freestanding works are often inspired by relationships, inner and outer, between a parent and child and/or an individual's inner self. Movement, stillness, words and narratives all contribute to the sense of a journey. In a world bombarded by discord and violence, my work strives to provide a sense of a pause, of opportunity and of hope.”
