The Casita at Double Island Studio

Our “not so tiny” tiny home was designed and built by artists and offers majestic mountain views while being nestled in a pristine valley.
The 380 foot Casita can accommodate two adults and is equipped with a full kitchen, full bathroom, and an upstairs loft. The loft includes a queen size bed and is accessible by a ladder. If you prefer to sleep downstairs, there is a queen size gel foam mattress on the pull-out couch.
The Casita is located 5 minutes from Micaville, 10 minutes from Burnsville, 15 minutes from Penland School of Craft, 20 minutes from Spruce Pine, and 25 minutes from Bakersville. Each small town has a selection of unique restaurants, shops, and walking paths. We encourage you to explore our beautiful mountain region during your stay. Venture into Asheville, just 50 minutes away, for a fun day trip. Visitors take pleasure in the numerous restaurants, galleries, festivals, river fun, and more.
The kitchen is equipped with a coffee maker, toaster oven, full fridge, microwave, oven range, dishes, cooking utensils, etc. There are several handmade cups and plates for you to enjoy during your stay.
The bathroom is equipped with bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, soap, shampoo, conditioner, & toilet paper. The focal point of the bathroom is our handmade sink created by local potter, Ken Sedberry. A fun fact about this sink is that he began making these to encourage his boys to brush their teeth when they were kids. His youngest son, Galen Sedberry, has taken on the pottery tradition and currently has a studio and his own line of work.
The casita does not have a TV. As a guest you can connect to Wifi and use your personal device for streaming. We encourage you to enjoy the mountain views and listen to the wildlife while you are here. There is plenty of seating inside and outside to enjoy a book or just relax. The covered “luncheonette” area is available for outside dining.
