Description: Learn the art of stacking thrown sections to create large scale work.

Instructor Tori Motyl will guide you through the step-by-step process of creating impressive, oversized pots. Learn to construct and assemble pottery sections seamlessly, troubleshoot common issues associated with large work, and create remarkable vessels that would otherwise be impossible to throw in one piece.

Note - due to the scale students will be working in, this workshop is currently limited to 6 students.

Fee: $395. Includes the workshop, materials provided by instructor, and $20 non-refundable registration fee.

Location: 2459 Double Island Rd, Green Mountain, NC 28740

Date & Time: June 22nd and 23rd, 9am-4pm

Level: Students must be able to throw with control and consistency. All ages welcome.

Firing: Firing not included.

Accommodations: Our “not so tiny” tiny home, The Casita, is located just steps from the teaching studio, this newly constructed home can accommodate 2 adults and has a full kitchen and bath. Additional accommodations can be found in the Workshop Guide here.

Cancellation policy: 100% refund if we can fill your spot. 50% refund if we cannot fill your spot. No refund for cancellations received less than 2 weeks from workshop date.

Tori Motyl is a ceramic artist specializing in large scale functional and sculptural vessels. She has been making and teaching since 2011 after receiving her MSEd in Visual Arts from SUNY New Paltz. She has taught a series of workshops in both wild clay and throwing big and most recently was the Craft and Overall winner of the Made in NC Awards put on by OurState Magazine in 2020 which she won with her large scale wild clay pottery. Tori's passion for teaching is evident in every class as she connects with each student, learns about their unique direction in clay, and offers knowledge and resources to help her students achieve their goals. Tori spends her time making art, teaching, and enjoying life in the mountains with her family and friends.
